ah nuts.

Wanted to go to 'Hio this weekend but it's not gonna happen.

I'm annoyed right now because I had made a pre-new years resolution to be more forgiving, and more tolerant of bullshit, but tonight really pushed me to my limits and I'm disappointed in myself for letting it get to me as much as it has.

In other news, water certainly is delicious, isn't it?

Another resolution I'm toying with is to stop drinking soda. or pop if you're midwestern. It's bad for me and bad for my teeth so I should stop. But I do love that fizzy feeling, and it's icy cold, caffeinated goodness going down my throat...(ehh...)

I love this winter break thing that Devan's got right now from Preschool. It's nice not having to get up and rush around. and now I don'tfeel liketyping anymore. my spacebar is broken so I gotta press it real hard to make it work and it's giving me tired thumbs.

Jonny done good.

Jon got me a new digital camera this year, as well as a nintendo DS with Nintendogs and the Trauma Center: Under the knife. He also got me a stomach ache microbe plush toy, and a pig toy...with a giant boner.

Merry christmas, everyone!

12.23.2005
my head MIGHT explode before christmas.

Seriously. All this talk of 'enjoying the splendor of the season' and how it's 'joyous' and how it's the 'most wonderful time of the year' is bull. Someone needs to just shoot me right now and put me out of my misery.

Not to be a scrooge or anything but christmas is so stressful that I sometimes wish I were a jehovas witness.Ok no i don't. I just wish I were martha stewart, or as rich as martha stewart so I could hire all of her people to make my holiday 'joyous'. It's 3:40am and I have to go clean my house so that I can spend tomorrow 'enjoying the splendor of the season' by shopping in packed malls and supermarkets with other thrilled shoppers with that shitty christmas music playing on the overhead speakers. And then I get to come home and clean and bake a little.

Saturday we're having a party. You can come if you want. I'll be putting my culinary skills to the test and dinner should be pretty awesome, unless I have another one of my 'failure at life' moments. In that case, I'm pretty good at boiling water and heating up pasta sauce.

If I don't blog for a few days, have yourselves some merry little christmases. I'm sure things will be merry over here once the gifts are bought and wrapped, and the turkey's in the oven.

my drunk husband

wants to wish you a Merry Christmas!

Failure @ Life

It's official. I cannot bake cookies. I mean I can, but not when it actually *really* matters. I got home from work at around 2:30am and decided I'd hurry up and bake my cookies, so I could get AHEAD for once. Well, long story short, I baked tasty, but round, biscuits. My dear, sweet husband tried one and told me 'I don't know, I think they're pretty tasty'-They're actually really good, and would go well with a spoonful of my delicious Polish cherry Jam, but they're not cookies. They were supposed to be mini black and whites. I'm not exactly sure what I did wrong, but it doesn't matter. I'll be bringing cookies from a bakery to my cookie walk tomorrow.

Devan's performance for the people at the retirement home was adorable, and she looked so pretty. My only 'failure-at-life' moment was when I realized I might want photographic evidence that this event actually happened, but then I couldn't find any batteries for my digital camera. I have another 35mm camera, but it's missing the flash so that wouldn't have worked.

I'm not sure I like having access to my archives. I was browsing around reading old entries from the last few years, while I waited for late editors tonight, and I *HATE* my writing and what a dork I sound like, not to mention that I basically just complain constantly about everything (kind of like right now) and it's really annoying.

tis the season

I've been staying away from my blog as much as I can, because I'm in a baaaaaddddd mood and I'm sure no one wants to read all about that. Christmas is so close. We still have so much to do. Tomorrow Devan is going to a retirement home to sing the senior citizens some Christmas carols. I wonder how I can screw this up for myself, to prove to myself once again what a failure at life I am. I'll probably fall asleep or something. I'll keep you posted.

I'm not doing very well with my knit-alongs. I've got 1 sock finished and the first few inches of the second cuff for my secret santa pal. I'm so glad I didn't overburden myself with gift knitting this year. But I've kind of done the opposite. I've basically told myself I have no time for anything and I'm enjoying NOTHING. whine whine whine whine whine. I'm going to lay down and try to sleep. Maybe that will help my mood.

12.08.2005
Do you smell something burning?

Oh, that's just my brain.

I'm pretty tired. I'm not getting anything done and I'm going crazy! I have no time for myself these days. Whine whine whine. I'm so glad I'm not knitting a bunch of christmas gifts this year, because I wouldn't be able to handle the stress. There will (hopefully) be just a couple handknits for a couple folks. If my job ever stops being dumb. I'm still thinking about making my own holiday cards this year. I seriously DOUBT that I will but i have a couple more days to think about it.

I <3 Saturdays

This afternoon, Jon, Devan, Gocky and I went to Suburban furniture in Sucasunna and picked out a new bedroom for Devan. The set we chose is SOOOOOO pretty. Normally I'm not really into 'sets' of anything, and like to mix and match, but the style of this furniture is so simple that I thought it would be fine, plus Dev has mentioned wanting her room PINK and I think that's ok if we can throw some green in there, and mixed furniture might be a little busy..

I'm going to start picking up different shades of pink and green fabrics to make a quilt for her bed - but for now I think I'll buy a regular comforter. The bedroom set gets delivered on Monday, and there's no way I can even think about starting her quilt until after the Holidays.

I've made some headway on my secret holiday pal sock #1. Jon was out with friends from high school tonight, so Dev and I cuddled up on the couch and watched Teen Titans, Tellytubbies, Fairly Odd Parents, and Sesame Street together, and I knitted until right before bed, when we added another cotton ball to santa's beard (her school gave her a santa advent calender so I'm off the hook, woohoo!) I got pretty far in the short amount of time I got to knit.

Houston, we've got a heel.

I'm using the sock pattern I use for all basic socks which consists of 64 stitches (or 52), 4 #2 needles, 2x2 rib continuing down the foot (ensures a nice snug, but not tight fit) and short row heels & toes. I've used this pattern that I have it memorized.

During the 3rd disc of season 2 of 24, I switched over to my Perfect Pie Shawl, which is nearing the end of the 5th wedge. I'm thinking about making a few more wedges so that I can wrap the shawl around my shoulders and then toss it over one and secure it with a pin or something. It seems like it's kind of on the small side right now - but it hasn't even been blocked yet so who knows.

I've got a couple other projects in the works but I will not take pictures and show them here, cuz they're top secret Holiday thingz.

There's a new Illustration Friday topic for this week: Blue

If I have time after doing the assignment my boss gave me Thurs. I will work on my contribution. Ah well. It's off to bed.

tivo is great.and evil.

I can't believe it's already, uhhh, morning. I've been catching up on shows - Medium, ER, Colbert Report, etc. During the last 2 episodes of Medium, I started these babies:

This future pair of socks is for a secret holiday pal. I think 1 ball is enough for both socks, so hopefully I can use the other ball to make myself some, cuz I'm loving the colors and the texture. It's Plymouth Sockotta on #2's.

And I have to tell ya, I am LOVING my Sweet Mary Janes. They're really comfortable, cute, and fit perfectly. I'll probably make myself more pairs, so I can really kick back and wear them all over the house. The ones I have now are only hand wash, so basically I wear them while I check my email after work, and then I take them off. Kinda silly, so I want some I can throw in the wash.

Oh yea, today's the day of the commemorative SCIL Playoff edition of the paper, featuring cover art by yours truly. Pick yours up today if you're in North Jersey. And if you're not, Check out the wrap on the njh website by clicking on this handy miniaturized, rotated version of my poster

your attention, please!

(Nov 19) I've been asked to make a Christmas wish list, so here it is. Click on Santa to view it!

(Dec 11) I am unable to sleep, so I took time to make the blog archives work. of course, images that were on old yahoo server do not work anymore (read: anything before April 2005) so you'll have to use your imagination. Check the sidebar for a link if you're interested.

Christmas Wishlist!

(Nov 22) There. I finally did it. Now go buy me stuff:)
.......................

(Nov 7)Take note of the changes along the right sidebar. I've been reading blogs, and that, of course, means joining knitalongs! However my next task (which will be my next announcement) is to create a holiday wishlist, as there have been several people asking for one.
.......................

(Aug 6) Hi guys, How cute is this: I have a new little niece!! Bryan and Mandie's little girl was born last Sunday (I think)

and in the spirit of utter ridiculousness, I give you, Madelyn dancing.
.......................

(June 1) Here is a little picture. Obviously, these are BF5 lyrics.

.......................

(May 23) Sup dudes? I was kinda bored last night, so I made a picture.

again. only tell me if you like it. I have a fragile ego.
.......................

(May 14) Going through a wave of depression. Don't feel like doing anything except artwork. Here are a couple pictures I made. You may have seen them, since they're meant for my websites. If you've seen them as background images, excuse the tiling, I'm fixing it when I feel like it.

if you like them, let me know. if you don't, keep it to yourself.

(April 28) Ok... I've been on hiatus. Bear with me and my broken links and pictures while I move all my junk around.
Life is good and I'm glad my site is working again.
.......................

(Jan 11) Due to real life pals/family complaining about how little real life content there is in this journal, I'm going to make a real effort to include that stuff, and not just knitting stuff. I hope this pleases you guys.
.......................

(Jan 10) Today is the anniversary of my Grampa's death. We still miss you so much.
.......................

(Jan 4) Congratulations Michael & Tiffany!!
Welcome to the family, Tif!
.......................

(Dec 30) Just two quick notes today:
1. We've got another completed Casey's Coat. click to see Vito!
2. I'll be out of town for about 3 weeks. My brother, Mike, is getting married! After that I'm going to be house sitting for my mom while she is out of town. This will not have an affect on you or my blogging, I just felt like sharing.
.......................

(Dec 2) My brother has been making me some pretty cool knitting charts. I think they're mighty awesome and I'm trying to figure out a project I can use them for. They're pdf files, except the first one (which is actually not his design, it's the work of someone on myspace.com) so go ahead and have at them. If he makes many more charts, I'll disable the links and offer the chart patterns for a small fee via paypal, because, after all, it is his art work and he deserves compensation!

click the images to view full sized charts:

(Nov 28)My little sister is a knittin' fool. We shopped all over for some good needles for her. She's been using these kids plastic-y needles that I find to be really uncomfortable and annoying. We tried some aluminum needles but they were too slick and long. We finally settled on some Clover Bamboo needles and from what I have heard, she likes them the best. She's working on a lavender scarf. I'll have my mom take a pic so I can post it here.
.......................

(Nov 28) I'm back! Christmas Knitting and yarn stash enhancement is in full effect in this house. There's a new(?) Knitting/Fabric store in the town my mom lives in.  It's called Sew Krazy.

image is property of sew-krazy.com

They are currently squeezed in a tiny location just chock full of amazing stuff! They have a whole shelf of Kaffe Fasset fabrics, which you know I loved.  They had lots of yarn by Rowan and Brown Sheep. They didn't have any Debbie Bliss. The shop is working on expanding in a new location, equipped with a beautiful fireplace (My mom and I peeked through a hole in the door) and it's HUGE. This place was great and there's a cafe called Muddy Waters next door. So this place will be perfect to sit down, relax, drink coffee, and knit by the fireplace when I go out to visit for 3 weeks in January. The building is also really beautiful and contains many other interesting shops. Check it out if you're ever nearby.
.....................

(Nov 20)Someone's used my pattern! Yesss! As you may know, Casey's Coat was published in Debbie Stoller's follow-up to Stitch n' Bitch, Stitch n' Bitch Nation. Today I was looking at the livejournal.com knitting
community and saw that someone actually used my pattern! Sweet, right?
.....................

(Nov 18)Last year for Christmas, Mr. Handsome gave me an EZ Stir. If you haven't got a clue what an easy-stir is, (consider yourself lucky) it's a device that attaches to your pots and pans and stirs your sauces for you! Ingenious! I have still not taken the EZ Stir out of its package. This year, I thought I'd make it easy on my husband and anyone else who wishes to shower me with gifts.
ho, ho, ho!
