You think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys?.

Lately I've been spending alot of time in my underwear, and basically saying that quote over and over, while slapping my butt, you know, at no one in particular. Also, I only worked half my normal hours today, and yet it seemed like the longest night of my life. When o when will I become a freelance uhh sleeper?? and not have to work anymore. I mean, yea, I realize most folks work for years and years, full time and all of that but I don't want to and the last 11 months of being a successful career woman just hasn't done it for me. I wasn't sprung from that mold, man.

Turdiest night ever.

I don't think turdiest is a word, but I can't think of anything better to describe my night. I have a stomache ache. This is some sort of karmic payback, I'm sure, for my illo friday entry. At work I am helping my boss photoshop all these pictures of this guy into these different rooms and then photoshopping screenshots of the website she's trying to promote into this guys monitor. It's really boring, tedious work. After I did that junk, I drew some football helmets for this playoff poster I made for the sports dept. I thought they looked cute, so here's a pic:

Oh, and I also finally sewed the buttons onto my Mary Jane slippers.

Fun little project. I used Noro Kureyon that I had layin' around. The crochet trim is done in Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride (Lotus Pink) and the buttons don't really match but I don't think I could muster up the energy to care about that sort of thing. My daughter wants a pair, so I'll be fiddling with the numbers in the pattern to make them fit her cute little toddler feet.

Oh yea, one more thing: Make fun of my pink pants and see how bad I hurt you.

Like a Vienna Sausage!

The subject of this week's Illustration Friday is SMALL. I gave it a go for the first time ever, and after 3 sketches and 3 totally different interpretations, I decided to go with my first one, which is, *ahem* the first thing I think of when I hear the word 'small' Click it to see the whole thing:

I don't think this illustration requires further explanation.

not enough time

I have so many things I want to do. Not just for Thanksgiving, but for Christmas too! For Thanksgiving I wanted to make a cheesecake (maybe) and some little tiny bite-sized muffins in chocolate chip, chocolate, and blueberry. I have to work Tomorrow until 11:30pm and I have to work Thanksgiving night :( I'd make the muffins and the cheesecake tomorrow morning, but I have a dentist appointment (and I'm really really nervous.)

For Christmas I want to do a handmade advent calender. I had thought about knitting tiny little stockings, but then I saw on Loobylu a couple of ideas that would probably come together more quickly. I had also wanted to make myself cute little sweater garland for the small tree that I will be putting upstairs on the buffet in my dining room. I probably will still do that. I want to get a REAL christmas tree this year. Not that old fake thing. I think a real one will be more annoying but will smell really nice and be a lot prettier, and more festive. This year has been really tough on all of us and I feel like really LIVING IT UP and having a great time and trying to put some of the pain and hurt feelings behind us.

Well, now it's time for me to shut off my computer, lay down in my bed, cuddle up next to my warm, snoring husband and think about all of my holiday plans until I fall asleep.

All work and no play.

I've been pretty busy this past week. Jon, Devan and I have all had bad colds. I have to take Devan to the doctor tomorrow because she can't seem to shake hers. I couldn't take a day off work because I had a lot of art work to do at work and no one else really knew how or what to do with my projects.

Basically this guy I'm friends with in Sports asked me to make a poster for him, basically something that people could take out of the paper and tape into their car and business windows, or take with them to the playoff games (sussex county high school playoffs) so I made one and my bosses liked it, but I had no idea whether they'd use them or not because we had to sell ads for them to run. One day I was sick at home in bed and my boss calls me, asking me to come in early because we were going to run two of my posters that night, two the next night and one the following night. (I'd only gotten one completed so this was kind of a surprise to me) I got quite a few hours of overtime this week working on these things... and my cold has not gone away either because I didn't get much needed rest.

Well, Anyways, I'm happy because alot of people have been calling in to work praising my posters and that's always nice. We've even had some people from out of state calling in to tell us how neat they thought the posters were. Here's what the posters look like, you can click them to make them a bit larger, or you can search through last week's newspaper archives at njherald.com (full pdf versions of my posters are located on either page B-6 or C-4 throughout the week.):

I had to stop knitting Mary Jane slipper number 2 because I lost one of my dpn's and can't find it. I'll go to the store sometime this week to buy a replacement set. In the meantime I've begun giftknitting, and I completed the 3rd wedge, and started the 4th wedge of my pie shawl.

I might call in sick to work tomorrow if I don't feel any better, and I'll work a little more on my shawl and perhaps I'll finish it.

I got a new coat this weekend. It's a nice black wool walking coat. Goes just past my knees and it looks adorable on me (because I'm cute) and I have a brown jacket (about the same length) coming in the mail sometime this week. Basically A-line LONG-ish tailored coats look really good on me. Now if only I could find some jeans that didn't hang off my butt. OH mama, why was I born with humongous boobs and no butt? Where is the justice in this world?

knittin' & bloggin'

Hi. I finally found the cord for my camera, which was where I thought it would be but was too lazy to look for it. So now I've got some pictures.

Friday night I cast my first Mary Jane slipper. Turkish cast on was a piece of cake, just follow the tutorial and DON'T ASK QUESTIONS. It works out, I swear!

Before I could say "where's my row counter" I had a finished slipper.

My daughter had run off with both of my row counters and I'm easily distracted. An extra row here and there adds quite a bit of extra room. I thought about making the other slipper the same size and felting them, but I decided against it.

I had to work Saturday to make up for the day I took off for Ben Folds, so I brought along slipper #2 and finished the whole thing (minus the strap.) I took a picture this morning to show you:

I made a couple adjustments to the pattern to make the slippers more snug against my foot, nothing terribly scientific, just 2 less decreases here, 2 less cast on stitches there. Because Mary Jane #2 turned out so perfectly, I decided to rip #1 and start over.

Jen, you wanted to see my pie shawl. Here's a picture (click on it for a larger version.) Unfortunately my camera kind of SUCKS so you can't really see stitch definition - allthough, it's mohair, you can't really see it anyways.

dumbest thing I've ever heard:

As Jon and I were filing out of our row, into a sea of people much 'hipper' than us at the Ben Folds show, A guy from the section across from us (whom I'd spotted earlier because he looked just like Ben Folds haha) turned to his ladyfriend and said "it's amazing what he [ben folds] does with a piano, MOZART couldn't do that shit!"

Of course I just kind of shook my head and snickered to myself, hoping that guy wasn't being sincere. I mean I'm a fan of Ben Folds and I think he's smart and a great pianist (teehee) but seriously..

Also, while the concert was awesome, we were unfortunate to have been seated in an area SURROUNDED by crazies or annoying people. we had these two guys in front of us who I affectionately referred to as "night at the roxbury's" and this guy at the end of our row was freakin out and playing some crazy air piano through the entire show. It was a jaw-dropping spectacle and i wish I could've recorded it. He was amazing. Personally I think he should be on the band's payroll and should be allowed to go up on stage and dance like that dude from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Also, going into the city does absolutely NOTHING for my self esteem. When we were getting into the train, and there were 8387392039493 people getting off in Hoboken, they were all so fancy and well dressed. And then you had ME.. and my scruffy man. I reallly need a makeover.

I've got a confession to make

I've been thinking about this for awhile. I have no fashion sense when it comes to myself. With other people, I'm pretty good at knowing what looks good. With myself ... Ok here's what I am wearing right now: way too big Greenish Bluish Grayish hooded sweatshirt. way too big light brown teeshirt that says "more cowbell" with a picture of a cowbell on it. Old ratty faded jeans that are too big on me and kinda just hang off me - oh and they are a little too long too, so the bottoms are all fuzzy and frayed. Black socks with multi colored polka dots. When I go upstairs I 'll slip on a pair of black, lands end loafers or red and white checkered Vans. I haven't had a haircut in over a year and a half. I have terrible split ends and I have no hairstyle (my hair is dark brown, and is elbow-waistlength now) I will wear this mess in a bun or a ponytail on top of my head. I haven't plucked my eyebrows in, oh, I don't know, maybe 3 months. I have no idea how to buy and wear makeup... I just kinda, slap on chapstick and maybe some eyeliner and mascara if I'm feeling funky.

Ugh. This is horrible. I mean I knowwww I look frumpy as hell, but I just can't bring myself to care. What is wrong with me and what can I do? Help!

JUST REMEMBER

You're the one thing
I can't get enough of

I've been dirty dancing all around my house for the last hour, cuz, you know, I'm awesome. I'm preparing for tonight (remember..Ben FoldS!)

I got too much food for lunch today. I had *teehee!* Hungry Eyessss (one look at food and I can't disguise)

Sundae Saturday

The only thing better than a sundae, is a sundae with M&M's in it.

We went to the Rockaway mall and exchanged devan's fabulous and furry hot pink coat for a size larger and then we had dinner at Friendly's. We had a good time and drew some pictures.

things that aren't cool - P. DePue

When you've stolen a seemingly normal Nestle Crunch 'funsize' bar from your 4 year old, and you bite into it and discover CARAMEL. Not cool. Gross, in fact.

When you race around Northern NJ on a Friday night, trying to meet your spouse for a date and end up being incredibly late so you just eat some soup and come back home. Also not cool.

When tivo records 8 or 9 of the same episodes of the Daily Show & Colbert Report. Annoying and not cool.

Yea I think that's it for tonight.

Clapotis Unblocked!

I finished my beautiful, soft, red & pink Clapotis last week and I still have to weave in ends and block it. But here are a couple pictures to document a 'completed' project. They're so scarce these days. Click on the images for a bigger picture.

(Nov 19) I've been asked to make a Christmas wish list, so here it is. Click on Santa to view it!

(Dec 11) I am unable to sleep, so I took time to make the blog archives work. of course, images that were on old yahoo server do not work anymore (read: anything before April 2005) so you'll have to use your imagination. Check the sidebar for a link if you're interested.

Christmas Wishlist!

(Nov 22) There. I finally did it. Now go buy me stuff:)
.......................

(Nov 7)Take note of the changes along the right sidebar. I've been reading blogs, and that, of course, means joining knitalongs! However my next task (which will be my next announcement) is to create a holiday wishlist, as there have been several people asking for one.
.......................

(Aug 6) Hi guys, How cute is this: I have a new little niece!! Bryan and Mandie's little girl was born last Sunday (I think)

and in the spirit of utter ridiculousness, I give you, Madelyn dancing.
.......................

(June 1) Here is a little picture. Obviously, these are BF5 lyrics.

.......................

(May 23) Sup dudes? I was kinda bored last night, so I made a picture.

again. only tell me if you like it. I have a fragile ego.
.......................

(May 14) Going through a wave of depression. Don't feel like doing anything except artwork. Here are a couple pictures I made. You may have seen them, since they're meant for my websites. If you've seen them as background images, excuse the tiling, I'm fixing it when I feel like it.

if you like them, let me know. if you don't, keep it to yourself.
.......................

(April 28) Ok... I've been on hiatus. Bear with me and my broken links and pictures while I move all my junk around.
Life is good and I'm glad my site is working again.
.......................

(Jan 11) Due to real life pals/family complaining about how little real life content there is in this journal, I'm going to make a real effort to include that stuff, and not just knitting stuff. I hope this pleases you guys.
.......................

(Jan 10) Today is the anniversary of my Grampa's death. We still miss you so much.
.......................

(Jan 4) Congratulations Michael & Tiffany!!
Welcome to the family, Tif!

(Dec 30) Just two quick notes today:
1. We've got another completed Casey's Coat. click to see Vito!
2. I'll be out of town for about 3 weeks. My brother, Mike, is getting married! After that I'm going to be house sitting for my mom while she is out of town. This will not have an affect on you or my blogging, I just felt like sharing.
.......................

(Dec 2) My brother has been making me some pretty cool knitting charts. I think they're mighty awesome and I'm trying to figure out a project I can use them for. They're pdf files, except the first one (which is actually not his design, it's the work of someone on myspace.com) so go ahead and have at them. If he makes many more charts, I'll disable the links and offer the chart patterns for a small fee via paypal, because, after all, it is his art work and he deserves compensation!

(Nov 28)My little sister is a knittin' fool. We shopped all over for some good needles for her. She's been using these kids plastic-y needles that I find to be really uncomfortable and annoying. We tried some aluminum needles but they were too slick and long. We finally settled on some Clover Bamboo needles and from what I have heard, she likes them the best. She's working on a lavender scarf. I'll have my mom take a pic so I can post it here.
.......................

(Nov 28) I'm back! Christmas Knitting and yarn stash enhancement is in full effect in this house. There's a new(?) Knitting/Fabric store in the town my mom lives in.  It's called Sew Krazy.

image is property of sew-krazy.com

They are currently squeezed in a tiny location just chock full of amazing stuff! They have a whole shelf of Kaffe Fasset fabrics, which you know I loved.  They had lots of yarn by Rowan and Brown Sheep. They didn't have any Debbie Bliss. The shop is working on expanding in a new location, equipped with a beautiful fireplace (My mom and I peeked through a hole in the door) and it's HUGE. This place was great and there's a cafe called Muddy Waters next door. So this place will be perfect to sit down, relax, drink coffee, and knit by the fireplace when I go out to visit for 3 weeks in January. The building is also really beautiful and contains many other interesting shops. Check it out if you're ever nearby.
.....................

(Nov 20)Someone's used my pattern! Yesss! As you may know, Casey's Coat was published in Debbie Stoller's follow-up to Stitch n' Bitch, Stitch n' Bitch Nation. Today I was looking at the livejournal.com knitting
community and saw that someone actually used my pattern! Sweet, right?
.....................

(Nov 18)Last year for Christmas, Mr. Handsome gave me an EZ Stir. If you haven't got a clue what an easy-stir is, (consider yourself lucky) it's a device that attaches to your pots and pans and stirs your sauces for you! Ingenious! I have still not taken the EZ Stir out of its package. This year, I thought I'd make it easy on my husband and anyone else who wishes to shower me with gifts.
ho, ho, ho!
