I'm overwhelmed and I feel like I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. I woke up this morning in a BAD mood. I yelled at Devan and she cried and I feel really mean because there was no reason to yell at her. She was just being '4'.
My house is a disaster. Ok maybe I don't make the most of my time, and maybe I'm not the best cleaner ever -- but this is ridiculous, and it's just amplified by the fact that I go to work and they give me these fun projects to do and I'm psyched about them, and then they get shoved in a drawer somewhere never to be seen again. It's like busy work. Or maybe they just hate my work. I don't know.
I'm feeling pretty disgruntled. I totally hate everyone and am finding fault in everything today. I even tried to cheer myself up and get a jump on holiday knitting (which is kind of a hilarous concept, if you consider my lack of time to do ANYTHING...) by going to the Yarn Loft in Sparta and buying some yarn. I got 6 balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superchunky and 4 balls of Rowan Big Wool and still, this frown will not turn upside down.
Not too much stuff, but a little bit of stuff nonetheless. I went to the drugstore to pick up my narcotics, and while I was there I bought some shampoo and deeeeeep conditioner. Then I came home and used it in the shower. So far I don't feel deeply conditioned but who knows.
I'm having problems with web design. The main problem is that instead of designing for the web, I just open up photoshop and illustrator and go to town and when I'm happy with the results, I'm like ok now to the web! and I expect everything to look as beautiful as it does in illustrator. If there's a way to make this happen, I'd be thrilled. I've been screwing around with indesign, golive, and bridge at work but I've had a few full page process color spec ads to create lately and it's left me very little time to work on my own stuff. I mean the nerve of them, making me do actual work at work!
Oh by the way, remember how I said I hate united way? Well guess who's in charge of a united way bakesale at work? yea that's right. This idiot. I was nominated as "Mayor" of my town so now I have to round up everyone who works with me and lives in Vernon and delegate bakesale responsibilities. This blows. I don't mind baking something delicious, but I do mind being in charge. I'm no politician. I think they already regret it, as I've begun telling everyone 'no, not Peggy - you address me as madame mayor, or mayor depue' and 'this is simply unacceptable - as mayor, i believe...' and of course they roll their eyes at me and make fun of me for being stuck with this ridiculous job. :(
well I have to get something to eat before I eat my own hand, and I've got to go pick up the cutest preschooler I know (duh..Devan.)
We went apple picking yesterday, and here are a couple photos I took at the farm. I have tons more, but these are just a random sampling. Click on em to see them bigger.
Devan's pretty sick. She sounds really funny because her voice is really scratchy and high right now. We're gonna stay home and be cozy. I've been aching to cook something delicious and homemade for awhile. Hopefully Devan will be all better by Monday, which is apple picking day.
Well Devan's requesting my attention so I'll talk more later.
I don't know the lyrics exactly but it goes something like this:
Take a good look around you, and just between you and me, are you sure this is where you want to be?
JOn and I spent the evening watching the first season of LOST which is pretty effin' cool. This song played at the end of the episode where half the survivors go to the cave and half stay on the beach. If you know - leave a comment.
maybe I'll go on my yarn expedition tomorrow. Jon wants to go to some festival in Little Italy but to tell you the truth I'm not interested in that, mainly because everytime I eat I get sick so it wouldn't be much fun.
Strutter by KISS is my theme song.. in my mind at least. It makes me want rock'n roll hair really bad. In fact everything by kiss unless it's a ballad, makes me want rock'n roll hair. Not KISS hair (ew). I can't find a good example to show you because it's too awesome to be captured on film apparently.
I really love Ocean Spray white cranberry juice (It's less tart, you know.)
I hate United Way, but not for any valid reasons. In fact, I don't know anything about United Way except that one summer when I was 7 or so, I spent a rainy week voulunteering for them (licking envelopes) and that tomorrow is United Way Day at work - meaning that soda and other beverages are 50cents and the proceeds go to United Way. I had to decorate the soda barrels tonight and everyone was teasing me because I was using little kid paint and stuff and it looked like I was doing arts and crafts. I was like "step off, dudes. it's arts and crafts for united way"
My dog eats everything and then she throws up (and then she eats it again) because she's disgusting.
When Jon is really tired he uses lots of swears.
I keep dreaming that my elbow is broken because I hit it on the corner of a desk the other night and it hurts like a mother.
I get pulled over alot. Not for good reasons, but because I work late at night. I'm getting pretty familiar with the cop who's always pulling me over. tonight I waved at him when he ran my plates:)
Monday Devan's class is going apple picking. I'm going to buy 2 bags of apples and make delicious apple pies and other apple things.
Today I dropped Devan off at pre-school and I looked at the bulletin board. There was a poster called "What I Want To Be When I Grow Up" and Devan's response was "an artist"
Isn't she the cutest??
At first I was confused because there is another child in Devan's class named Devin (I thought it was misspelled) and he had said he wanted to drive monster trucks and I was like... "monster trucks?!?!" then I realized it wasn't my Devan.
I died a thousand deaths last week, but now I'm back and I'm feeling pretty awesome.
I've been working on repairing my archives. something weird happened to them in March when my site went belly up. Aside from that, I've been keeping busy at work by creating spec ads, and kinda jazzing up different elements of the newspaper. Right now we're trying to get my sunday comic header approved. I also made a new tv book cover which is pretty cool. Mostly I make stuff that will never see the light of day, but it's entertaining to make it and print it and look at it.
That place Jessie works at has an ad in the paper for a photo retoucher/layout person. It's tempting because I miss Jessie, but it's an hour away and I'd need a second job just to pay for gas to get there.
I wish I had another week off this year. I would drive around in the mountains and take pictures. Today I took some more photos on my way home. It's so nice to discover new places that are so beautiful that they look enchanted. Unfortunately I can never capture that on film. Anyway... thanks for worrying about me dudes. I have to pick up my little Doodle now.
I spent saturday morning in the ER because of this pain i keep getting in my lungs every couple of months. Saturday morning I was basically in agony, whimpering and crying, when Jon decideded I should go to the ER. While I was there I was poked several times while they tried to get an IV in (Damned non-translucent skin I now have gigantic black and blue bruises on both arms and hands.) I got a cat scan, EKG, x-rays, some cardiac thing to make sure the pain wasn't my heart, I threw up all over myself, and cried and stuff.
the moral of the story is that no one ever knows what the stupid problem is and I don't feel much better and I feel like a dweeb when say, the person on the other side of the curtain has broken ribs that he has waited for 2 days to get checked out because they might just be bruised. bah.
Yesterday was Devan's first day of PRESCHOOL! she looked so cute in her classroom sitting in a circle with the other little kids. I'd loved to have been a fly on the wall (with a camera) during class, but I didn't want to bug Devan so I just squeezed her and told her to have fun. She made the cutest little popsicle stick person with brown yarn hair. She said 'it's me' when she came out of the classroom and I guess it looks like her.
Tonight I was on my way home singing Where Did You Sleep Last Night at the top of my lungs and I tickled my throat and coughed so bad I almost threw up. ..because I'm so awesome..
Poor Jonny's got a sore mouth. He had a dentist appt today. He's asleep upstairs on the couch because I asked him to wash the sheets and pillows on our bed. I just finished making the bed and told him he can sleep in it now but he fell asleep again.
There's a new-ish dude at my work who is pretty cool and keeps me entertained and isn't offended when I make fun of him and say rude things to him (joking, of course) and also he is very quick with the sarcasm, so that's cool and it makes me laugh. It's made my life a little better (since Jessie disappeared from the face of the earth - no actually I text messaged her the other day and she and I will be hanging out eventually) Supposedly a new girl is starting next Tuesday (replacing Jessie) and my boss says I'll like her. Of course he knows nothing about me, so how would he know?
Have I mentioned to you that my family might be coming over this weekend? Rick I think for sure is coming out Thurs. my mom is still undecided. They just can't get enough of me. (because I'm so awesome.)
Devan starts (pre)school tomorrow. We went clothing shopping on Saturday, and in order to make room for her new stuff, we've got to sort through her old stuff and wash it and pack it up. Jon started this task yesterday while I was sleeping. Today I noticed that he machine washed this merino sweater I made Devan last summer:
It's felted. It's gone. The only thing that saved Jon was that he said "oh, I looked at that and I thought it was too professional looking to be something handknit." smooth, right?
As you can see I have been keeping my hands and my mind occupied with other things. I'm avoiding ripping or finishing my hourglass sweater because I still haven't figured out what to do about it. This is my first try spinning. I think it's a little overspun but I'm starting to get the hang of it.
(Nov 19)
I've been asked to make a Christmas wish list, so here it is. Click on
Santa to view it!
(Dec 11)
I am unable to sleep, so I took time to make the blog archives work. of course, images that were on old yahoo server do not work anymore (read: anything before April 2005) so you'll have to use your imagination. Check the sidebar for a link if you're interested.

(Nov 22)
There. I finally did it. Now go buy me stuff:)
.......................
(Nov 7)Take note of the changes along the right sidebar. I've been reading blogs, and that, of course, means joining knitalongs!
However my next task (which will be my next announcement)
is to create a holiday wishlist, as there have been several people asking for one.

(Aug 6) Hi guys, How cute is this: I have a new little niece!! Bryan and Mandie's little girl was born last Sunday (I think)
and in the spirit of utter ridiculousness, I give you, Madelyn dancing.

(June

(May
23) Sup dudes? I was kinda bored last night, so I made a picture.
again. only tell me if you like it. I have a fragile ego.

(May
14) Going through a wave of depression. Don't feel like
doing anything except artwork. Here are a couple
pictures I made. You may have seen them, since they're
meant for my websites. If you've seen them as background
images, excuse the tiling, I'm fixing it when I feel
like it.
if you like them, let me know. if you don't, keep it to
yourself.

(April 28) Ok... I've been on hiatus. Bear with me and
my broken links and pictures while I move all my junk
around.
Life is good and I'm glad my site is working again.

(Jan 11) Due to real life
pals/family complaining about how little real life
content there is in this journal, I'm going to make a
real effort to include that stuff, and not just knitting
stuff. I hope this pleases you guys.

(Jan 10) Today is the
anniversary of my Grampa's death. We still miss you so
much.

(Jan 4) Congratulations
Michael & Tiffany!!
Welcome to the family,

(Dec 30) Just two quick
notes today:
1. We've got another
completed Casey's Coat.
2. I'll be out of town
for about 3 weeks. My brother, Mike, is getting married!
After that I'm going to be house sitting for my mom
while she is out of town. This will not have an affect
on you or my blogging, I just felt like sharing.

(Dec 2) My brother has
been making me some pretty cool knitting charts. I think
they're mighty awesome and I'm trying to figure out a
project I can use them for. They're pdf files, except
the first one (which is actually not his design, it's
the work of someone on myspace.com) so go ahead and have
at them. If he makes many more charts, I'll disable the
links and offer the chart patterns for a small fee via
paypal, because, after all, it is his art work and he
deserves compensation!

(Nov 28)My little sister is a knittin' fool. We shopped
all over for some good needles for her. She's been using
these kids plastic-y needles that I find to be really
uncomfortable and annoying. We tried some aluminum
needles but they were too slick and long. We finally
settled on some Clover Bamboo needles and from what I
have heard, she likes them the best. She's working on a
lavender scarf. I'll have my mom take a pic so I can
post it here.

(Nov 28) I'm back! Christmas Knitting and yarn stash
enhancement is in full effect in this house. There's a
new(?) Knitting/Fabric store in the town my mom lives
in. It's called Sew Krazy. image is property of sew-krazy.com
They are currently squeezed in a tiny location just
chock full of amazing stuff! They have a whole shelf of
Kaffe Fasset fabrics, which you know I loved. They
had lots of yarn by Rowan and Brown Sheep. They didn't
have any Debbie Bliss. The shop is working on expanding
in a new location, equipped with a beautiful fireplace
(My mom and I peeked through a hole in the door) and
it's HUGE. This place was great and there's a cafe
called Muddy Waters next door. So this place will be
perfect to sit down, relax, drink coffee, and knit by
the fireplace when I go out to visit for 3 weeks in
January. The building is also really beautiful and
contains many other interesting shops. Check it out if
you're ever nearby.

(Nov 18)Last year for Christmas, Mr. Handsome gave me an
EZ Stir. If you haven't got a clue what an easy-stir
is, (consider yourself lucky) it's a device that
attaches to your pots and pans and stirs your sauces for
you! Ingenious! I have still not taken the EZ Stir out
of its package. This year, I thought I'd make it easy on
my husband and anyone else who wishes to shower me with
gifts.
