cd swap

Well ok. I finished burning my cds and I made the covers (heehee they make me laugh). Not my best work, as I'm kind of burned out at the moment but it works with the theme of the cd. Ok yea, that's great but I am not sending them out until Monday. Sorry dearies, I have no $ at the moment and no card stock and and no cases and I also don't have a working printer. I mean it works, but I want to print out the little round labels for the cd's. If my printer isn't functioning properly by Sunday morning, I'll just print out the cd covers from work and you'll have to deal with the boring cd.

in other parts of my brain, I've made a knitting resolution! I will not (from this day forward) start another project until I've finished all of the ones I've got floating around (except for sock projects, because sock projects are portable projects that you can get up and go with and one can never have too many of those.) And right next door to that genius idea, I began pondering yarn and garment design and of course buying yarn and fondling it and sniffing it and getting excited about projects and so on and so on. ANd here's the thing. I think I might actually enjoy yarn more than knitting. Like, maybe I'm destined to be more of a spinner or a designer than a hobby knitter. I seriously have a yarn stash most of you'd pee your pants over, and I'm constantly thinking about yarn and fabric and colors and textures, but knitting is like, the means to an end, you know? I feel like a machine when I knit and basically I just want to be done and don't enjoy it nearly as much as I think I should. I mean I'm not going to quit knitting, it's alot of fun, but I think that I'm way more passionate about the yarn and the designs than I am about knitting. Does that make sense or am I just babbling?

Tomorrow we're going 'down the shore' to drop Devan off for a week of beach fun without us:( Don't worry, we'll be going down next week. I love vacation, and I'm not even sad about missing the fair. After dealing with the fair commission for the last 2 months how could I possibly muster up any excitement about this event? I wouldn't even need to glance at a schedule at this point because the friggin thing is burned into my brain.

well that's it for now. I need to sleep!

Just a few notes.

Work really really stinks now that I'm alone for 6 hours a night.

I finished my spread and it printed tonight, and is going to run Sunday. I am not really into it though.

I really need to remember how to spell the word "sponsor" ..it's not "sponser" no matter how many times I spell it that way.

My dog is part bear I think.

Today Devan drew me a picture of a heart that had fur all around it and inside it said "Love" (because she loves me, she said) She spelled LOVE all by herself (it looked a little bit like 'cove' but I mean what do you expect, people, she's only 4.

We can't find our Tivo remote. THis means we cannot watch any of our tivo'd programs. This means my programs are recording over themselves. this means that life no longer has a purpose since I can't keep up with the Daily Show anymore.

My dog seriously requires more petting than I can possibly give. Are most dogs like this? I mean she aggressively pursues my hand, and if I stop petting her head for even a second, she slaps me with her big bear paw. It's pretty annoying.

how sexy

Tonight I got home from work and my site is working again. How hot is that? Well I'm not going to stay, I want to do some quick updates before I go to beddy-bye.

7.24.2005
tonight I ate alligator

Jon took me to the Rattlesnake Cafe and I really liked it. I would have liked it more if I'd ordered a margarita but that's neither here nor there. We ordered ALLIGATOR as an appetizer. It tasted pretty great.

We went to see The Island tonight too. I thought it was pretty good. Not amazing or anything, but good.

Tomorrow - well later today I mean, I'm going to go to the farmer's market - come hell or highwater (or even hot weather or me being extra sleepy) I want to buy some goat soap and walk around and look at quaint things.

what I don't want to do is go to work. Jessie's gone and I'm in mourning. Perhaps I'll wear all black or a veil or something. Work's gonna suck now. WHo else am I gonna eat dinner with and be pretend mean to? Who else is gonna give me good ideas for all my ads? Who else is gonna get excited looking at fonts with me, and picking out work appropriate clothes online at night? Oh, woe is me. A piece of me has gone with her. :( So does anyone wanna be buds now? I'm lost without her. Actually I think she invited herself over this coming Saturday to sit on the deck and drink and cookout with us. I can't remember.

Guys i really wish my laptop would let me look at my website. It's being a real jerk right now. Also I can't look at this bmw forum that I go to sometimes when I pretend it's the year 2007 and I'm shopping for my sweet new ride. Oh I haven't mentioned this to you yet? Well. I can't afford it now, but I'm getting a bmw when I trade in my car. But it's weird that these are the only 2 sites that I cannot access from my laptop for some unknown reason.

weird problem

I had planned on doing some stuff to my blog this weekend - I realized when i moved the site, I forgot the archives, which I'm sure is annoying to some of you. I was going to do that and a couple other things, but the problem I am having is that I cannot access my website on my laptop. If I walk over to my mac and type in the address, it pops up - no problems. It's obviously a problem with my laptop or something but Matt looked at it last night, and Jon pondered it for a few moments, but no one came to any solid conclusions about why the hell this is happening. It's a bummer too, because I don't think haloscan and my mac (or any of the macs at work) get along very well so I can't read your comments at the moment.

In other news, Last night I made a gigantic tossed salad, and some delicious homemade ZESTY Italian dressing that is delicious. We were gonna cook out but when it came right down to it, neither of us was very hungry - which is sad, because I was excited to grill shish-kabobs and make all kinds of side dishes and just have a fun night at home. Instead, we feasted on salad and then had some peanut butter Italian ice and ice cream when matt came over.

me and the man might go out tonight to a movie and dinner or something. that will be fun. We don't see each other very much these days and that sucks.

And about knitting, .. dudes.. So I mentioned earlier in the week that i was no longer knitting the surprise gift. I actually am gonna use the yarn to make myself a nice raglan cardigan (the yarn in the pattern - which is from a winter Vogue Knitting from maybe 2 years ago) calls for Debbie Bliss denim) but I can never just follow a pattern correctly, so I'm making this baby with Goddess Emmanuella, which is seriously the most wonderful yarn to knit with and it's 100% merino loveliness.

I also acquired some Schaefer Anne - 2 skeins for 2 pooling scarves to be made by christmastime as presents for a couple of folks who admired the scarf I made myself. It shouldn't be too hard to get started this time, since I've completed one and I pretty much understand how the colors work now.

This post would have been alot more exciting with pictures, but with this problem I'm having, I can't check the site and make sure I posted junk correctly, so we'll have to live without them for now.

7.22.2005
damnit

What a bummer. Jessie's last day working with me was tonight. I'm gonna be all alone now. I mean how awesome is it that I got a job because I was bored and sad and lonely, and now I'm working at a job where I'm gonna be bored and lonely? Super awesome!

I guess on monday i have to go in to an interview with my General Manager and talk about the +/- 's of my department and I have no idea what to say. I mean there are a ton of minuses for me right now. And I was once the girl who loved her job so much she'd stay til 4 in the morning... or maybe I was the girl who hated coming home.

Today I took Lumpy butt (that's Lily, if you're not familiar) to the vet and she slobbered all over me.

7.20.2005
a case of the BLAH's

Things I have to do:

Take Lily to the Vet
Take Devan to the Pediatrician
Take myself to the Gynocologist, Therapist, & Family Dr
Fix 800 retarded little things on the Fair Spread
Scan in really cool pictures and do a neat layout for the cover

Things I wanna do:

Sit on my deck at night, drinking mojitos
Work on a lovely cable-y knitting project
Swim in my yarn collection, instead of just glancing sadly at it every day
Join in Loobylu's Month of Softies just once!
Finish the cd swap thing
Go to Type Week in NYC this week *boing*
Go swimming
Go to the zoo
Lay in bed with my husband

Work has me stressed, bills have me sick and anxious, and vacation (2 weeks til vacation...yes)has me excited. I miss being a stay-at-home mom. I really do.

things that are cute - P.DePue

The other day I was talking to Dev about umm woman things. Because she wanted to go swimming and I was on my period. So out of nowhere she's like "Oh Great, does Daddy have his 'peradod' too?'

You'll never see that in the Family Circus. Why do my thoughts always go straight to family circus when anyone (self included) talks about the cute stuff their kid says? in my head I'm like "oh jeffy..." that little rapscallion.

So another cute thing. Jon emailed me a cute Bright Eyes song the other day and being hormonal... and well.. just being me actually, I cried. Here's the song:

This is the first day of my life
I swear I was born right in the door way
I went out in the rain
Suddenly everything changed, they're spreading
Blankets on the beach

Yours is the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
I don't know where I am
I don't know where I've been
But I know where I want to go
So I thought I'd let you know
These things take forever, I especially am slow
But I realized how I need you
And I wondered if I could come home

I remember the time you drove all night
Just to meet me in the morning
Yeah I thought it was strange
You said everything changed
You felt as if you just woke up

And you said, "This is the first day of my life."
I'm glad I didn't die before I met you
Now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you
And I'd probably be happy
So if you want to be with me
With these things there's no telling
we'll just have to wait and see
But I'd rather be working for a pay check
Than waiting to win the lottery

Besides, maybe this time it's different
I mean, I really think you like me

as I was saying, it's by Bright Eyes, was out for a long time but not officially released, now it's on the "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" album released earlier this year I think.

Umm.. there's more cute stuff... Yesterday me and Dev were upstairs hanging out watching Powerpuff Girls and Devan was like "oh mommy there's a squirrel!' there was a fat little squirrel on our deck right by the door so we sat on the floor and it sniffed right by the door for awhile, like 45 minutes. and we watched it pee on the deck and Devan was like 'Oh man it's peeing!' and she named the squirrel Peena or something like that, I think because it peed. I never saw a squirrel pee before. It was pretty cool.

7.19.2005
poop

i hate everything today. i hope it will pass.

ps. I ripped that secret project apart. Did u notice I never EVER finish anything? I have about 70 million planned projects but I never finish anything. I'm gonna have to do something about that.

7.18.2005
sup dudes?

Remind me not to take on anymore humongous projects anymore. That State Fair spread was nearly the death of me. It would be fine if designing were my only job, but it's not... so I have to work on little bits here and there. I finally finished the layout tonight, but that doesn't mean anything cuz tomorrow the fair commission will look at it and probably want me to change a bazillion things. I kept this thing pretty simple because it was so huge, so I hope that helps.

Other than that, though... I had a pretty decent night. I mean, sunday nights are always kinda boring because I'm all alone, but it's not so bad. The editors got done at 10:30 which was nice. Unfortunately the press guys didn't start going until 1am as usual. It wouldn't have mattered anyways. I was working on the Fair thing 'til 2.

I'm having some doubts about this 'surprise gift' I'm knitting. It's kind of funny. I'm thinking about ripping it out and starting something different with the yarn, because I think it might suit it's recipient better. I have had my heart set on knitting this project for this person for over 2 years and now that I'm finally doing it, I don't wanna. What's up with that?

Tonight I littered. I had this mix cd in my car since April and tonight I was just like "why on earth am I still listening to this? The past is the past!" and I ejected it and threw it out the window on my way home. It felt awesome. It would have felt awesomer if I would have hit the idiots riding their bikes down the highway at 2:20 am, with no reflectors or anything.

ok by now I'm sure it's obvious that I have nothing to do and I'm just killing time waiting for the washing machine to be done by rambling on and on to you all. I'll stop now, and do something more constructive. bye!

7.17.2005
It was a good day.

I've been a busy bee lately. Friday I had to go to work for awhile, to work on a spread for the NJ state fair. While I'm still pretty excited about it, I don't think this one is as nice as my last peice for the fair. I think I'm going to go to work a little early tomorrow to work on it uninterrupted.

I've also been knitting - don't have any pictures of that yet. I finished 2 socks this week, except that they aren't a pair. I've been working on my Think Pink along (which you can find a link for on the right side of this page,) and I've been working on a special gift. It's stockinette hell for now, but I work on it while I'm watching a movie or something.

Tonight we... I mean I watched Finding Neverland. I thought it was good. I judge films by the size of the lump in my throat at the end. The lump in my throat by the end of this movie was quite large, but I managed to swallow it down within a couple minutes.

Last night we watched Million Dollar Baby. I hate the title, but the movie was pretty good. Not a huge fan of Hillary Swank either, but still - good movie, decent sized lump.

Jon made us excellent chicken on the grill and I served up some veggies that we all enjoyed (even Devan asked for seconds!) and after dinner we took a nice ride holding hands, with the windows down and the music blasting, to Dairy Queen, where Devan and I got small cones and Jon got himself a blizzard. It was fun and messy. I am glad to have my family back. Things felt so wrong and so foreign for so long, and I'm so happy to feel good and normal again.

7.10.2005

Guys, I hurt my back. I don't know how or when or why. I was out to lunch with Devan and Jessie, and when I got home, my back hurt really bad. So I'm not going to the 'employee appreciation celebration picnic' thing over at Hidden Valley today. I didn't really want to go anyways, but I feel like I'm walking like a moron, so I'm definitely not going.

Ehhh I don't have anything to talk about today.

7.07.2005
it's my birthday!

happy birthday to me!!! yay! life is good!

7.06.2005
it's a sad thing

So my friend Jessie, from work, got this job she interviewed for. I'm happy for her, but sad to see her go. The job is as a graphic designer at a company that makes all these different magazines. There are all kinds of them, knitting, quilting, beading...etc. She said the job would be perfect for me, and I think she's right. Basically, once she's familiar with the way things work there, she'll be given her own magazine to layout. I think it sounds awesome and I wish I could go with her.

I had an excellent dinner tonight, of Rigatoni and meatballs & garlic knots. delicious. but I smell like garlic.

Well dudes. I have Thursday through Saturday off. Thursday's my birthday. I think I want to take Devan to see Madagascar either tomorrow or Thurs. And I might want to go to the beach again with her. or maybe not. I don't know. I want to do something fun with her, because I hardly see her these days.

And another thing. I really need to start working on my portfolio. Jessie and I were talking tonight, and she might come over this weekend and help me go through some of my fine artwork and figure out which peices might be usable, like, we might take some of my sketches and paintings and add type and stuff. I'm excited to mix things up like this. I think the results will be totally awesome.

*****EDITED (because the njherald.com website only keeps pdf's in its database for about 5 minutes) So the link works now:)******

Happy 4th of July, people. I spent the day at home, alone. Jon and Dev are over at his parents house swimming and stuff. Now I get to go to work. Here's what I've been doing lately. Click it to go to the link.

I'm up to my ears in state fair projects. Tonight I will be working on a pullout tab that has the whole list of events and a map and blah blah blah and I am tired and don't want to work. Hopefully I won't be alone, but I most likely will.

Well I'm out.

your attention, please!

(Nov 19) I've been asked to make a Christmas wish list, so here it is. Click on Santa to view it!

(Dec 11) I am unable to sleep, so I took time to make the blog archives work. of course, images that were on old yahoo server do not work anymore (read: anything before April 2005) so you'll have to use your imagination. Check the sidebar for a link if you're interested.
.......................

Christmas Wishlist!

(Nov 22) There. I finally did it. Now go buy me stuff:)
.......................

(Nov 7)Take note of the changes along the right sidebar. I've been reading blogs, and that, of course, means joining knitalongs! However my next task (which will be my next announcement) is to create a holiday wishlist, as there have been several people asking for one.
.......................

(Aug 6) Hi guys, How cute is this: I have a new little niece!! Bryan and Mandie's little girl was born last Sunday (I think)

and in the spirit of utter ridiculousness, I give you, Madelyn dancing.
.......................

(June 1) Here is a little picture. Obviously, these are BF5 lyrics.

.......................

(May 23) Sup dudes? I was kinda bored last night, so I made a picture.

again. only tell me if you like it. I have a fragile ego.
.......................

(May 14) Going through a wave of depression. Don't feel like doing anything except artwork. Here are a couple pictures I made. You may have seen them, since they're meant for my websites. If you've seen them as background images, excuse the tiling, I'm fixing it when I feel like it.

if you like them, let me know. if you don't, keep it to yourself.

(April 28) Ok... I've been on hiatus. Bear with me and my broken links and pictures while I move all my junk around.
Life is good and I'm glad my site is working again.
.......................

(Jan 11) Due to real life pals/family complaining about how little real life content there is in this journal, I'm going to make a real effort to include that stuff, and not just knitting stuff. I hope this pleases you guys.
.......................

(Jan 10) Today is the anniversary of my Grampa's death. We still miss you so much.
.......................

(Jan 4) Congratulations Michael & Tiffany!!
Welcome to the family, Tif!
.......................

(Dec 30) Just two quick notes today:
1. We've got another completed Casey's Coat. click to see Vito!
2. I'll be out of town for about 3 weeks. My brother, Mike, is getting married! After that I'm going to be house sitting for my mom while she is out of town. This will not have an affect on you or my blogging, I just felt like sharing.
.......................

(Dec 2) My brother has been making me some pretty cool knitting charts. I think they're mighty awesome and I'm trying to figure out a project I can use them for. They're pdf files, except the first one (which is actually not his design, it's the work of someone on myspace.com) so go ahead and have at them. If he makes many more charts, I'll disable the links and offer the chart patterns for a small fee via paypal, because, after all, it is his art work and he deserves compensation!

(Nov 28)My little sister is a knittin' fool. We shopped all over for some good needles for her. She's been using these kids plastic-y needles that I find to be really uncomfortable and annoying. We tried some aluminum needles but they were too slick and long. We finally settled on some Clover Bamboo needles and from what I have heard, she likes them the best. She's working on a lavender scarf. I'll have my mom take a pic so I can post it here.
.......................

(Nov 28) I'm back! Christmas Knitting and yarn stash enhancement is in full effect in this house. There's a new(?) Knitting/Fabric store in the town my mom lives in.  It's called Sew Krazy.

image is property of sew-krazy.com

They are currently squeezed in a tiny location just chock full of amazing stuff! They have a whole shelf of Kaffe Fasset fabrics, which you know I loved.  They had lots of yarn by Rowan and Brown Sheep. They didn't have any Debbie Bliss. The shop is working on expanding in a new location, equipped with a beautiful fireplace (My mom and I peeked through a hole in the door) and it's HUGE. This place was great and there's a cafe called Muddy Waters next door. So this place will be perfect to sit down, relax, drink coffee, and knit by the fireplace when I go out to visit for 3 weeks in January. The building is also really beautiful and contains many other interesting shops. Check it out if you're ever nearby.
.....................

(Nov 20)Someone's used my pattern! Yesss! As you may know, Casey's Coat was published in Debbie Stoller's follow-up to Stitch n' Bitch, Stitch n' Bitch Nation. Today I was looking at the livejournal.com knitting
community and saw that someone actually used my pattern! Sweet, right?
.....................

(Nov 18)Last year for Christmas, Mr. Handsome gave me an EZ Stir. If you haven't got a clue what an easy-stir is, (consider yourself lucky) it's a device that attaches to your pots and pans and stirs your sauces for you! Ingenious! I have still not taken the EZ Stir out of its package. This year, I thought I'd make it easy on my husband and anyone else who wishes to shower me with gifts.
ho, ho, ho!
