As if my yarn haul couldn't get any better?!??! I wasn't expecting this package for awhile yet:
This yarn is sooo soft. I have never felt wool so soft. It's beautiful and the colors are beautiful. The only problem is that the indigo yarn was meant for the Men's Zipped Raglan from Last Minute Gifts as a present for Jon ( I bought it awhile ago), but the yarn is more purpley than blue. Hmm.
As soon as I started knitting with it, I put it down, opened my laptop, and browsed elann.com to see if there was anymore left. Unfortunately there's only an orange/brown colorway... and sadly, I don't think that 21 balls of it is quite enough for what I'd had in mind. This yarn is sooo soft, and drapey and wonderful that I'd love to knit a throw for my bed. (you know, with the bedroom makeover thing going on, it's all I'm thinking about.) I was thinking of something kind of bright and vibrant, but I'm not sure. I sure hope elann gets more in stock so I can gobble it all up.
ahhhhh stash enhancement.. it almost makes makes me forget about the emotional hell I'm going through.
First, from Elann, I couldn't resist the Jo Sharp DK wool sale. I really wanted the dk wool tweed, but by the time I woke up the morning it went on sale, they only had crappy colors left. So, I did what any normal person would do, I settled for second best. I got 25 balls of the color 'brocade' which is like a burgundy heather. It's a little redder than it looks in the picture.
I also bought 5 balls of Austermann Playa, which is AMAZINGLY soft and the colors are beautiful in person. This is meant to become a beautiful scarf.
Next up we've got the good stuff. Not that the Jo Sharp and the Austermann yarns aren't good. They are, but you see they just don't compare to what's next.
First we've got 15 balls of Kureyon 88 and 15 balls of Kureyon 40:
I also got 15 balls of silk garden in that beautiful red colorway *drool* I might make the Klaralund pullover. I haven't decided.
And finally, I know I've mentioned making the Hourglass sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, and I've finally got the perfect yarn for it.It's such a beautiful deep brown.
Guys, I think I'm over my husband. This yarn will keep me happy for at least a couple years, at the rate I turn out Fo's. Well, I better get a knittin'!
Well he's gone. He left at 5. I'm comforted by the fact that I know he's sleeping on a couch in his parents house... and there probably won't be dinner prepared for him because his mother is at work ;)
Let's talk about knitting cuz knitting is fun and positive and comforting. I'm working on a Retro Prep pullover in Jaeger Luxury Tweed (color Red Robin) I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's going really slowly.
I suppose I'll fill you all in on what's going on. Basically my husband and I are having problems and starting tonight he's going to stay with his parents while we go through some marriage counseling. It's difficult to think positively while this is going on. My husband goes to sleep before me every night, and when I come to bed I hug him until I fall asleep, thanking God (or whoever) that I have him. He's a wonderful, hardworking man and has put up with soooo much from me that I can't even begin to tell you about. I wish I'd appreciated him more when things were going better between us. We've been together since the summer before our junior year in high school, so needless to say, I'm scared shitless about being by myself.
Since this house is going to be 'mine' for awhile, I'm going to paint my bedroom and buy new sheets and stuff...I hate that this is happening, but I'm trying to be positive. Oh, the other wonderful thing that I'm looking foreward to is that tomorrow the yarnhaul to beat all yarn haul's is going to be here. Check back for pictures. *you'll be jealous*
Things aren't so great over here. I'm seeing a doctor today. I'd rather show knitting than talk about that though.

I made these socks using the Priscilla Gibson-Roberts Dream Socks
pattern. I used the zigzag bind off just to try something different. I'll
use a different method next time. I love the blue koigu, and the way the
colors kind of look warn and washed away in some spots. My only problem with
these socks is that wearing them for the day yesterday, I noticed that they
stretched out quite a bit and were a little saggy on my feet. They were still
incredibly comfortable though.
I'm getting busy on the
sock swap. I think I've narrowed my sock yarn choices to these:
Well, on second thought. I might stick with this yarn, which was my original
choice. The further I knit, the more I like this yarn, allthough I still liked
it better in the ball:
I'm going home in 25 minutes. Of course I'll be starting off the trip with a stomache ache. This always happens, so I've allowed myself 20 or so minutes to relax before I wake Devan up and hit the road.
I'm nervous about going back. There is stuff going on in my life that I don't really want to talk about publicly. My real life family and friends know what I'm talking about but it's just too personal to get into on this thing.
I can't believe how quickly I pack up my car when I'm determined to get somewhere. It took me about 20 minutes from start to finish.
I re-watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind last night. This time it really hit home and I found myself getting very emotional while I watched. I also worked on blue koigu sock #2, and it's just about finished. The short row toe takes no time at all now, so hopefully I'll be wearing those beauties by the end of the day, and starting my sock-swap socks tonight! I'm pretty excited about that! I also made a depression induced yarn purchase (and it sure did help me feel better) this week that I'm bursting with excitement about. You'll be jealous, I promise. I'll be sure to show it off when it arrives!
Well. I better get some mp3's copied to a cd so I have some driving music.
The babysitting has been going swimmingly, aside from my daughter picking up some bad words here and there (you know how that goes: she says something shocking, everyone laughs, she repeats ad nauseum.) I've felt like utter shit for the last few days. Maybe this is because I've been on my period for like uh... 10 weeks in a row now. I'm pretty sure this isn't normal and I can't wait to get back home so I can see my doctor, now that my insurance is all straightened out.
I was reading yahoo news earlier, and saw the story about the beached Pilot Whales. It breaks my heart when whales beach themselves.
I'm thinking of cutting my hair. I need ideas. I think I want something short-ish. Not like a pixie hairdo or anything, but maybe a little bit above shoulder length, and stylish. I'm sick of my hair looking like this:
not to mention how irritating and time consuming it is to untangle my woodland friends from it.
I just got back from dropping Evan and Cady at their school. It is so nice out today - 62 degrees! I think by the end of the night it will be in the low 20's but I'm trying to stay positive.
I miss my dog and my husband so much right now. I'm also missing my laptop, my bed, and my Creamy Commotions ice cream.
My parents left for Las Vegas this morning at 6. I believe their flight has left by now. I wonder if my stepdad is nervous, since this is his first time on a plane.
Last night I made spaghetti and meatballs and invited my friend Katie, my brother Rick, and my grandma over to eat with us. It was pretty good.
The longer I stay here in Ohio, the more comfortable I get, and the more I want to move back here. Houses are so cheap and in this town (wooster) there are some really nice ones.
I had really bad dreams last night about flooding and all kinds of other weird junk. I need a nap later!
Today I have to go shopping. Saturday I went with my mother, Evan, Cady, and Devan to the Outlet Mall. I got Devan some pajamas at the Gap and they have a hole in the butt, so today I have to return them. I was also thinking about running over to the knitting store again, to pick up some Brown Sheep worsted for a new sweater for Casey. The one I originally made for her, which is the pattern I wrote for Stitch n' Bitch Nation only fits her when she hasn't had a haircut for a long time. Right now she's shaven, and I've heard through the grapevine that my grandma isn't happy with her current sweater (storebought) so I might go ahead and make another one for her.
Last night I had great fun with my brother and my favorite pal Katie. We went to eat at a local all night (kind of trashy) eatery and tried in vain to play 'name that tune' but the volume of the radio was just low enough that it hurt to try to hear it. We came back to my mom's house and I annoyed my brother for awhile, and then Katie and I played Uno. I completely kicked her ass- to the point of her quitting before we got to 500pts.
In all the excitement last night, I made a humongous oops putting Devan to bed (no, I'm not talking about singing 'Twinkle Twinkle little star off-key. I do that every night and she loves it.)I forgot to put her pull-up pants on her. Doh. We woke up this morning at 9 to a soaking wet bed.
Oh, good news! My idea to erase the graffiti on Jon's car with a pencil eraser worked! It's all gone! Yay! Oh well, I'm going to go work on my 2nd blue sock for awhile. Since I've been forbidden to knit around my brother, it's going extraordinarily slow.
I finished one of my blue koigu socks last night. It fits great and is super comfortable. I've ripped and reknit the heel and toe a million times, so I'm glad the finished sock is to my liking. I bought some Brown Sheep Wildfoote yarn and some Lorna's Laces over at Sew Krazy the other day.
I went to a yarn store in Lakewood the other day. It was called Sheep in a Heep. I didn't buy anything because I had no cash on me and they wouldn't take a debit/credit card. They had a pretty good selection of yarn though.
I got to spend the night over at my dad's house to take care of Abby, while my stepmother recouperated from surgery. Devan and I had a great time making Abby smile. As far as the rest of the visit with my dad ... well, let's just say that I took a really long hot shower when I got back to my mom's, and spent about 30 minutes with my head under a blanket trying to find a 'happy place'. I feel so bad for that baby.
I think I might have been a little overly enthusiastic with the amount of yarn I brought with me. I actually packed a large tote full of yarn, to keep me from blowing all of my money out here. I've only worked on the same blue socks so far. I even had some Lopi delivered here and I haven't even touched it. I've just been too busy, or not feeling very well.
Speaking of not feeling well, this morning at 7, Devan woke up throwing up, so I had to get her up and give her a bath. She's feeling a lot better now, but still refuses to eat anything. Poor baby.
The other night I recieved an email from my husband. Apparently his car was 'tagged' sometime this weekend. I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but his car is brand new. He just got it in November. 2 weeks after he got it, he was rear-ended in Wayne, by Treasure Island. 2 weeks after that, Devan threw up all over the back seat. Now he's got the word "Game" written in permanent marker on the back of his car. I wonder if his new car is cursed?
So Evan likes his sweater and it fits. It's a good thing I lengthened the arms as much as I did. It's quite rolly at the bottom, and I can block it a little longer next time (for some reason I thought Evan was shorter)Click here for another action shot.
To prepare for this massive sock swap I bought Simple Socks, Plain and Fancy: A Short-Row Technique for Heel and Toe (Priscilla A. Gibson-Roberts) yesterday at B&N, along with Knitting magazine (from the UK) and Knit It!
My brother and Tif got married. Their wedding was so beautiful and sooo much fun! I'll update this more later, I just wanted to post to let you know I'm still alive.
(Nov 19)
I've been asked to make a Christmas wish list, so here it is. Click on

(Dec 11)
I am unable to sleep, so I took time to make the blog archives work. of course, images that were on old yahoo server do not work anymore (read: anything before April 2005) so you'll have to use your imagination. Check the sidebar for a link if you're interested.

(Nov 22)
There. I finally did it. Now go buy me stuff:)
.......................
(Nov 7)Take note of the changes along the right sidebar. I've been reading blogs, and that, of course, means joining knitalongs!
However my next task (which will be my next announcement)
is to create a holiday wishlist, as there have been several people asking for one.

(Aug 6) Hi guys, How cute is this: I have a new little niece!! Bryan and Mandie's little girl was born last Sunday (I think)

(May
14) Going through a wave of depression. Don't feel like
doing anything except artwork. Here are a couple
pictures I made. You may have seen them, since they're
meant for my websites. If you've seen them as background
images, excuse the tiling, I'm fixing it when I feel
like it.
if you like them, let me know. if you don't, keep it to
yourself.

(April 28) Ok... I've been on hiatus. Bear with me and
my broken links and pictures while I move all my junk
around.
Life is good and I'm glad my site is working again.

(Jan 11) Due to real life
pals/family complaining about how little real life
content there is in this journal, I'm going to make a
real effort to include that stuff, and not just knitting
stuff. I hope this pleases you guys.

(Jan 10) Today is the
anniversary of my Grampa's death. We still miss you so
much.

(Jan 4) Congratulations

Welcome to the family,

(Dec 30) Just two quick
notes today:
1. We've got another
completed Casey's Coat.
2. I'll be out of town
for about 3 weeks. My brother, Mike, is getting married!
After that I'm going to be house sitting for my mom
while she is out of town. This will not have an affect
on you or my blogging, I just felt like sharing.

(Dec 2) My brother has
been making me some pretty cool knitting charts. I think
they're mighty awesome and I'm trying to figure out a
project I can use them for. They're pdf files, except
the first one (which is actually not his design, it's
the work of someone on myspace.com) so go ahead and have
at them. If he makes many more charts, I'll disable the
links and offer the chart patterns for a small fee via
paypal, because, after all, it is his art work and he
deserves compensation!

(Nov 28)My little sister is a knittin' fool. We shopped
all over for some good needles for her. She's been using
these kids plastic-y needles that I find to be really
uncomfortable and annoying. We tried some aluminum
needles but they were too slick and long. We finally
settled on some Clover Bamboo needles and from what I
have heard, she likes them the best. She's working on a
lavender scarf. I'll have my mom take a pic so I can
post it here.

(Nov 28) I'm back! Christmas Knitting and yarn stash
enhancement is in full effect in this house. There's a
new(?) Knitting/Fabric store in the town my mom lives
in. It's called Sew Krazy. image is property of sew-krazy.com
They are currently squeezed in a tiny location just
chock full of amazing stuff! They have a whole shelf of
Kaffe Fasset fabrics, which you know I loved. They
had lots of yarn by Rowan and Brown Sheep. They didn't
have any Debbie Bliss. The shop is working on expanding
in a new location, equipped with a beautiful fireplace
(My mom and I peeked through a hole in the door) and
it's HUGE. This place was great and there's a cafe
called Muddy Waters next door. So this place will be
perfect to sit down, relax, drink coffee, and knit by
the fireplace when I go out to visit for 3 weeks in
January. The building is also really beautiful and
contains many other interesting shops. Check it out if
you're ever nearby.

(Nov 18)Last year for Christmas, Mr. Handsome gave me an
EZ Stir. If you haven't got a clue what an easy-stir
is, (consider yourself lucky) it's a device that
attaches to your pots and pans and stirs your sauces for
you! Ingenious! I have still not taken the EZ Stir out
of its package. This year, I thought I'd make it easy on
my husband and anyone else who wishes to shower me with
gifts.
