I've got a couple tips for eating healthier. Since I'm on Weight watchers, I have to use points every day. To save points for myself I do the following things (and so far it's working alright!):

I've recently started drinking coffee. The way I normally drink it, (half/half & sugar) took up 4.5 points for 2 cups in the morning. So I've started substituting half/half for Coffee-mate Fat Free original Non-dairy creamer. It's pretty good. You find it near the half/half in the dairy section. I also recently tried splenda. I buy the box of 50 individual packets. I use 2 and it is pretty good.

SUGAR FREE (naturally fat free) Jell-o and Jell-o pudding products. The jell-o is free of points, but the pudding has either 1 or 2 for a serving. Both of these come in handy for recipes, such as my Key Lime Pie that I made. It was delicious.

95 + Fat Free ground turkey. Yes. I love ground beef, but ground turkey is almost just as good when you add spices. I love turkey in chili and my taco soup and it's a lot better for you than ground round.

Load up on the veggies. Most of them are free of points (if you're doing WW) and like they say at ww, none of us got too fat by eating too many veggies.

Another tip. Molly Mcbutter & cheese on 94% fat free popcorn. It's a pretty good snack. Without the MollyMc, it's kinda 'ehhhh' but with it, it's alright. and kinda filling too.

Water. 48 oz. per day. What I do is, i take a 16 or 17 oz glass, fill it up with ice cold water from the tap and gulp down the whole thing. Sometimes you don't want to finish but just make yourself!!! If you do that 3 times per day you've fullfilled your daily intake. Plus it makes you full.

I've never tried this, but, Gold's Gym is starting this thing where they say to eat an apple before every meal. You may have seen the ad. It's an apple core shaped like a man or woman. It's pretty weird, but they're saying it works. Give it a try?!

2 words for you: SKINNY COWS. Skinny cows are made by silhouette. They're big, round, ice cream sandwiches. Some people hate them, but jon and I like them (and i'm a picky eater, so...)The only downside is that they are expensive. I've heard you can get a 3 pack (18 sandwiches) for less than 10 dollars at costco, but I haven't actually ventured into costco to find out. We recently tried the Slim-a-bear's by Klondike. I think those are really good, but they're a bit smaller (less expensive though). These are each 2 points, and are 98% fat free.

A tip for salad. I like caesar salad at restaurants. If you're like me and you don't want to give up the food you like, just ask for the dressing on the side. Dip your fork into the dressing, and then stab your lettuce and yer good. It tastes good. You get dressing with every bite, and you're using less of it. Oh, One more thing. Tell your waiter/ess to hold the croutons. These are very bad.

If you like soda as much as I do, I'm sorry but there's no way I'll lie to you and tell you that diet is just as good. It's not. Even the diet soda's made with splenda have a weird taste. If you don't mind - more power to you, I mind. So I just don't drink it. I drink water, and I kind of like seltzer water. I have raspberry, mandarin, and lemon lime. It puts my craving for fizz at ease.

Add vegetables. Adding a cup of broccoli or cauliflower (or most other vegetables except potatoes (and other very starchy veggies) to your meals is a good way to fill up without adding fat. At this very second, I'm steaming broccoli so that I can put it over my 3pt Lean Cuisine lunch (Roasted Chicken and vegetables - it's good, but it's small).

Oh crap I shoulda listed this first - WOW. Ok, I know Olestra has a bad rap because of loose stools and stuff like that. I have NEVER had any issues with olestra, other than with pringles. The problem I have with WOW Pringles, is that the texture is kind of weird and you get a weird fatty coating all over your mouth. Well. My favorite favorite chips are Ruffles Sour Cream & Cheddar. They make a WOW version. I think it only comes in small bags. You can eat the ENTIRE bag for 5 points. Or you can eat 15 chips for 1 point. It's amazing and they're delicious.

SALSA. It's naturally fat free. I put salsa on lots of stuff. You can use it as a dip with Baked tortillas, on top of rice, potatoes, or as salad dressing (i never tried that but I hear it's good).

I almost forgot. Fat Free Sour Cream (the one in the cowprint container) is good. Baked Doritos (if doritos are your thing), umm...Skim milk, special K, fruit, veggies, I can't believe it's not butter, whole wheat bread, lowfat cinnamon grahams, Fat Free Kraft Cheese, etc, etc, etc.

Ok. Let's be honest. Fat free and lowfat things don't always taste the same as the regular versions. If you go into it expecting the same thing, you're going to be disappointed.

i like simon and garfunkel. I just wrote jon some amazing e-mails and he hasn't written me back. I'm honestly the most amazing, funny person who ever lived and he's not even appreciating it! I am going to a weightwatchers meeting tonight. I'm scared! I also have lost 3 lbs since monday. yippie skippie. i'm down 13 lbs. oh ps. I like paul simon by himself too.

she looked me over and I guess she thought I was allright - allright in a sort of a limited way for an offnight

I had two bad dreams last night. They were both about the same thing. In the first dream, I was standing with devan about a block away from the wtc when the first tower collapsed. Prior to it collapsing, I recall standing, shocked, watching people jump out of windows. There were horrified screams all around me and people crying. I remember being in the dream, running as fast as I could with devan (as she was then, an infant)trying to cover her and run at the same time holding my breath, feeling like my lungs were burning. After the smoke cleared, I was still there, and i could see a bit through the fog, that the other tower was there too. It was crazy.

In the second dream I was standing in the second tower, next to a shattered window, watching people jump all around me. People were telling me to 'move or jump' but I was too afraid to jump. So I just stayed. I woke up feeling really scared and nauseated (and relieved). I can't even imagine how those people must have felt.

shake your ass!watch yourself!

so I may have come off as a little crazy and obsessed yesterday. Sorry about that.

Well, Jon and I watched About a Boy last night and it was so cute. I especially love the part where marcus is walking down the hall listening to Mystical. So cute.

I am drinking coffee at 10:45 at night. Am I stupid or what? So yea, I weighed myself and I have lost 10 or 11 lbs now. I say 10 or 11 because our scale is weird and it's telling me I weigh the same thing dry as wet, and I know thats a bunch of bs.

I just deleted a big long paragraph because what I was typing somehow became very private and i decided that it was no ones business and that I don't want anyone elses opinions about it.

*RANT* OK PEOPLE. I have a problem. It's with the MTV show "Cribs" My problem with this show is when people like Trina (wtf?! is trina?!) invite you into their 'crib' to show off their 24kt gold plated place settings and crystal chandeliers, their handmade rugs that lay in rooms that these oh so important celebrities don't even SIT IN. They show you their kitchens (that are about 4 times bigger than the house I live in) that they don't even cook in. They take you into their bathrooms where their light fixtures are plated with solid gold, and of course, they show you their Bentley, which they don't even freakin' drive. It just sits in their driveway as a status symbol. And they tell you crap like, "if you're anyone, who's anyone, you'll have at least 1 bottle of Cristal sitting on your bar"

Bullshit Trina. I don't even know who you are or how you got rich enough to throw away so much money but it's absolutely nauseating to watch. I sat through this show in it's entirety today and I thought about why it was making me feel so angry. At first I thought it might be jealousy. Then I looked at the tv and saw Trina's shiny, gaudy, gold themed sitting room. It's just an absolute waste. (an absolutely UGLY waste). The problem with these people is that they have more money than they know what to do with, and not enough class or style to use even a fraction of that money to buy something nice and classy.

All of this hollywood excess makes me sick to my stomache. Seriously. Last night Jon and I watched the Golden Globes. What the heck is up with these people? Yea, lets get dressed up in our ridiculous costumes (i'm looking at you sharon stone --oh and i almost forgot, lara flynn boyle (the anorexic ballerina)) and pat each other on the back for a few hours every couple of months. In their speeches they sputter and stammer and pretend like they haven't been rehearsing this over and over again in front of their gold framed mirrors for weeks. They use words like "enormously, and amazingly magnificently, extremely, and all other smart sounding words that mean LARGE" and it's totally obnoxious people. You spend your lives making millions of dollars pretending to be other people. You're not nearly as deep as you pretend to be. There's not all that much meaning in what you do.

I want to point out a couple things about last night's awards. 1. Film aid. Dear hollywood, those starving people in war torn countries don't need your pointless movies. They need food, clothing, and shelter. HELLO! and number two says it all 2. "SALUTE ME!"" - Brendan Frasier, it's what they're all thinking and he accidentally said it out loud. Whoops.

I promise you this, If I ever in my life had money to spare, there's no way that I'd insult the poor people in this world by plating my freaking light fixtures with gold, or boring people with my stupid "thank yous" to the hollywood foreign press. You'd better believe I'd share that wealth.

1.19.2003

Today was not the best day. Jon and I got into two different fights which both led to me crying my dumb old eyes out and him running over and hugging me and being nice (which led to me getting eye makeup on his shirt and feeling sheepish). This is definitely PMS related. Everything's ok now, and jon's out getting me the biggest cup of coffee from dunkin donuts that they carry, which i hope is very very big because i want a lot. I have a whole Martha Stewart's Weddings to examine.

Motherhood is the strangest thing. You can do really gross things as a mother, and for some reason they just aren't as gross as they would be if you were doing them, say.... to a friend. Let's take my daughter for example (who else...).Lately she's been having a stuffy, snotty, disgusting nose. So I'm getting her out of her car seat and i notice that she's got just about the biggest booger I've ever seen. Actually boogers. There was one in each nostril. So yea, I picked them out. What else was i to do? Well they stuck to my finger and that has pretty much scarred me for life.

Remember that soup I was telling you about in my last entry? Well, I made it again and this time I doubled the recipe so jon can take some to work for lunches. It's so good and filling and GOOD FOR YOU! Yum! And my pie did firm up a little better and was pretty damned good. I also made a potato soup which was pretty good. Jon and I finished it off for lunch today. Now i am chewing on a peice of Carefree Koolerz lemonade gum. It is really good too. Refreshing and sugar free. It's great.

I am going to make a list of all the things I really want to eat right now : King sized caramello bar, more soup, devan's chocolate chip cookie, yoohoo, devan's pudding, devan's yogurt, jim's ice cream, jim's dorito's, god.... help.......

1.16.2003

Hi. Last night I made a really good soup. I had two cups of it already today (which =4 pts, which is totally amazing and i'm really full). I also made a Fat free key lime pie which tastes delicious, but unfortunately, I am having trouble getting it to firm up. BUT GOD DOES IT TASTE GOOD!

Here is a list of things I do not want to do right now: stay awake, do math homework, stop eating.

I bought those WOW Ruffles Sour cream & cheddar potato chips. They are really really good. If you don't have any side effects with Olean, (i don't) then these are for you! The Fat free Pringles w/olestra are kinda nast--you can sorta feel this fatty coating in your mouth when you eat them. I bought a bag of WOW tostitos and a tub of salsa for when I NEED a snack. Hopefully this will help me do a little better on my diet. Keep your fingers crossed for me. THX!

1.15.2003

OOOOH. Jon and I just got back from our walk. Maybe we should check the temperature before we go walking. We started jogging toward the end, but I had to stop because my legs were so cold I couldn't feel them and I was afraid I'd fall and knock my teeth out. So I got home and took a shower, but that didn't really help. My legs were cold all through the shower. Now they're really hot and itchy, as if they were burned. DID I SOMEHOW IN MY TIME OUTSIDE GET FROST BITE?! SHEESH!

I have severe pms. Poor Jon.

um. so yea, I gained back 2 pounds in ohio. Stupid dumb me. Food is so good and I was so, so weak. I really must try harder. I was doing really well at first when I was taking it seriously. Oh well. I guess Jon's work is having a competition. I hope they all understand that Jon is going to win. He's already lost 25 lbs since mid november because he is taking this all very seriously, and he's not been really doing anything hard. He's just stopped drinking soda - he now only drinks diet coke or diet dr. pepper when he's really wanting something other than water (which he's drinking a whole lot of). He takes Smart Ones and Lean Cuisines to work now to eat for lunch, or if he's going to a diner he just modifies his order to include vegetables and doesn't touch the french fries. We've also been eating Skinny Cows - which are made by silhouette. They are either completely fat free or 98 percent fat free, ice cream sandwiches. So when we want dessert, that's what we have, and they are really really good.. Jon also from time to time goes to the salad bar at the grocery store and gets a salad with lite dressing, cottage cheese and fruit. He's doing really well. I am so happy for him. And now we're going to be walking every morning together. It's nice. We get some time together in the morning now, instead of just seeing each other at night.

Ugh. my legs still kinda itch. I feel pretty good after my shower (besides my legs and all that,)and I don't really want to go back to sleep. It's only 6:40, but I didn't do my homework last night and i have to be at school at 9am. I don't even have to do the homework, so maybe i'll fall asleep here on the couch---who knows really.

Last night we went to the mall. I checked out cell phones. I want a new one because mine is like from the stone age. I just really want one that does text messaging so that I can use it in class if I have to. ALso because text messaging is neat and i just want to be able to fiddle with it. Anyway, our whole purpose to go to the mall was so i could get me a pair of jeans because mine are all too BIG. I'll assign a variable to my pant size because i don't want anyone to know it! Ok. So Say I was wearing a size n at the beginning of the fall semester of school. During winter break I was in a size n-1. I had them from before I was pregnant. Now at this one store where I buy my pants, the sizes seem to run a little bigger, so I was anticipating wearing a size n-1 in this other store where the jeans are on sale. HOWEVER, after trying them on, I was delighted to discover that in this store I wear an n-2. (which is pretty awesome if you understand what I'm saying). Like, ya know, I thought I'd be buying the same size as I was wearing (but from a different store) but i was actually able to go down, which means if I bought them in the original store,, I'd probably be 3 sizes smaller. This makes no sense since I am back to a loss of 7 lbs, but maybe the two pounds I gained distributed themselves somewhere else besides my gut. Whoreallyknows,eh?

Well that's funny, I didn't even realize that I typed all of that out. My reason for talking about the mall is that me and jon went to this store and he's all "i'll buy nice clothes when i lose more weight" and i was like "jon you look great already! you really should feel good about yourself now! you're doing so well!" so I kept picking up really cute clothes for him and i was all excited when he tried on this fashionable pair of jeans. I made him buy them, a cute pair of straight legged sweatpants for walking and jogging and lounging around and a cute teeshirt that goes with it, a pair of cargo pants, a really nice long sleeved teeshirt, and the fashionable jeans i was telling you about. Oh,me?? I didn't get the jeans i tried on. They were too long. What's up with stores saying their sizes come in tall, regular, and short and they don't ever have the short ones? Regular is way too long for me, even if i pull the things up to my collar bone. I ended up buying a pair of jogging pants and a pair of yoga pants (even though I don't do yoga). bye!

1.13.2003

and i know i know i know i know i know i know i know i know i know i know iknow..wtaoijeagt I got a cute pastel pink notebook. and another tiny little notebook with stars on it.

I have all my ebay stuff ready and waiting. now i just need the motivation to mail it out.

I got back from my mom's on Saturday afternoon. I am feeling depressed! I did not want to come back so soon! I see the crystal raindrops fall, and the beauty of it all when the sun comes shining through. to make those rainbows in my mind when i think of you sometime-- and i wanna spend some time with you..

I am bored and tired. also i hated my math class today. there is a really ditsy girl who thinks she's really cute. Why do i let these things bug me. She had nice hair. Let's focus on that instead.

1.03.2003

*sigh* Well, I am supposed to be going to my mom's one of these days before my class starts. I am sick with a stupid cold it's sapped all my energy (not that i had much to begin with) I think I've also gained weight from being sick?? which is weird since i've not consumed nearly as much food since i've been sick.

Devan's in bed and I'm listening to the beatles. I'm debating whether or not I should put all my mp3's back onto my computer. What do you think? I took them all off and it was like 10 cds. If it was instantaneous I'd do itin a heartbeat, but it is going to take quite awhile. God I am so boring. I am eating homemade macaroni and cheese, which is, ohhh.... about a week worth of points.

well. I am going to look at my site and maybe change it cause i am so bored right now.

your attention, please!

(Nov 19) I've been asked to make a Christmas wish list, so here it is. Click on Santa to view it!

(Dec 11) I am unable to sleep, so I took time to make the blog archives work. of course, images that were on old yahoo server do not work anymore (read: anything before April 2005) so you'll have to use your imagination. Check the sidebar for a link if you're interested.
.......................

Christmas Wishlist!

(Nov 22) There. I finally did it. Now go buy me stuff:)
.......................

(Nov 7)Take note of the changes along the right sidebar. I've been reading blogs, and that, of course, means joining knitalongs! However my next task (which will be my next announcement) is to create a holiday wishlist, as there have been several people asking for one.
.......................

(Aug 6) Hi guys, How cute is this: I have a new little niece!! Bryan and Mandie's little girl was born last Sunday (I think)

and in the spirit of utter ridiculousness, I give you, Madelyn dancing.
.......................

(June 1) Here is a little picture. Obviously, these are BF5 lyrics.

.......................

(May 23) Sup dudes? I was kinda bored last night, so I made a picture.

again. only tell me if you like it. I have a fragile ego.
.......................

(May 14) Going through a wave of depression. Don't feel like doing anything except artwork. Here are a couple pictures I made. You may have seen them, since they're meant for my websites. If you've seen them as background images, excuse the tiling, I'm fixing it when I feel like it.

if you like them, let me know. if you don't, keep it to yourself.
.......................

(April 28) Ok... I've been on hiatus. Bear with me and my broken links and pictures while I move all my junk around.
Life is good and I'm glad my site is working again.
.......................

(Jan 11) Due to real life pals/family complaining about how little real life content there is in this journal, I'm going to make a real effort to include that stuff, and not just knitting stuff. I hope this pleases you guys.
.......................

(Jan 10) Today is the anniversary of my Grampa's death. We still miss you so much.
.......................

(Jan 4) Congratulations Michael & Tiffany!!
Welcome to the family, Tif!
.......................

(Dec 30) Just two quick notes today:
1. We've got another completed Casey's Coat. click to see Vito!
2. I'll be out of town for about 3 weeks. My brother, Mike, is getting married! After that I'm going to be house sitting for my mom while she is out of town. This will not have an affect on you or my blogging, I just felt like sharing.
.......................

(Dec 2) My brother has been making me some pretty cool knitting charts. I think they're mighty awesome and I'm trying to figure out a project I can use them for. They're pdf files, except the first one (which is actually not his design, it's the work of someone on myspace.com) so go ahead and have at them. If he makes many more charts, I'll disable the links and offer the chart patterns for a small fee via paypal, because, after all, it is his art work and he deserves compensation!

(Nov 28)My little sister is a knittin' fool. We shopped all over for some good needles for her. She's been using these kids plastic-y needles that I find to be really uncomfortable and annoying. We tried some aluminum needles but they were too slick and long. We finally settled on some Clover Bamboo needles and from what I have heard, she likes them the best. She's working on a lavender scarf. I'll have my mom take a pic so I can post it here.
.......................

(Nov 28) I'm back! Christmas Knitting and yarn stash enhancement is in full effect in this house. There's a new(?) Knitting/Fabric store in the town my mom lives in.  It's called Sew Krazy.

image is property of sew-krazy.com

They are currently squeezed in a tiny location just chock full of amazing stuff! They have a whole shelf of Kaffe Fasset fabrics, which you know I loved.  They had lots of yarn by Rowan and Brown Sheep. They didn't have any Debbie Bliss. The shop is working on expanding in a new location, equipped with a beautiful fireplace (My mom and I peeked through a hole in the door) and it's HUGE. This place was great and there's a cafe called Muddy Waters next door. So this place will be perfect to sit down, relax, drink coffee, and knit by the fireplace when I go out to visit for 3 weeks in January. The building is also really beautiful and contains many other interesting shops. Check it out if you're ever nearby.
.....................

(Nov 20)Someone's used my pattern! Yesss! As you may know, Casey's Coat was published in Debbie Stoller's follow-up to Stitch n' Bitch, Stitch n' Bitch Nation. Today I was looking at the livejournal.com knitting
community and saw that someone actually used my pattern! Sweet, right?
.....................

(Nov 18)Last year for Christmas, Mr. Handsome gave me an EZ Stir. If you haven't got a clue what an easy-stir is, (consider yourself lucky) it's a device that attaches to your pots and pans and stirs your sauces for you! Ingenious! I have still not taken the EZ Stir out of its package. This year, I thought I'd make it easy on my husband and anyone else who wishes to shower me with gifts.
ho, ho, ho!
